SUGAR LAND, TX (August 29, 2006) – The Superstar finale drew record-breaking attendance on Saturday, as more than 4,000 people assembled on the Plaza of Sugar Land Town Square (SLTS) to cheer on their favorite contestant. At the end of the night, judges awarded the Sugar Land Superstar title to Shannon Loucks. Finishing first runner up was Courtney Bonds; second runner up was given to Shiela Harrison.

“On behalf of Sugar Land Town Square, I’d like to congratulate Shannon and all the finalists who performed in the Superstar competition. The level of vocal talent in Fort Bend County is amazing and I am already looking forward to next year’s competition,” said Sugar Land Town Square Marketing and Event Manager Rita Sosebee. “Thank you to everyone who attended the Superstar series this summer. The support from the community has been phenomenal.”

Loucks was awarded the title by a panel of celebrity judges local to Fort Bend County including Yolanda Green, public affairs director at KHCW-TV, T.J. Callahan, KILT-FM radio personality, and the High-Tech Texan Michael Garfield. In addition, KHMX-FM Radio Personality Michelle Fisher emceed the event.

Loucks, who performed a rendition of Aretha Franklin’s Chain of Fools, is the mother of two and currently works in the children’s ministry at First Colony Church of Christ.

As Superstar, Loucks received a gift basket full of goodies generously donated by various retailers of Sugar Land Town Square. In addition, Loucks will have additional performance opportunities in Town Square including this year’s Christmas tree lighting, scheduled to take place November 30.
