SUGAR LAND TOWN SQUARE HOSTS SECOND-ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF TO BENEFIT LOCAL CHARITIES

SUGAR LAND, TX (September 19, 2007) – The best chili cooks in Fort Bend County are bringing a little spice to Town Square as they go head-to-head in a friendly competition to see who will earn the bragging rights for the best chili in Sugar Land.  On Saturday, October 20 from 5 – 8 p.m. local residents and businesses will serve up their special-recipe chili to Town Square visitors in a contest to win a donation to their charity of choice.

“Thanks to the participation of so many talented cooks, last year’s competition was a huge success for the Fort Bend County Women’s Center.  The community’s interest and support made for a fun and exciting event and I anticipate this year’s cook-off will be even better. ” said Rita Sosebee, marketing and event manager for SLTS Management Company, LLC.

The public can donate a minimum of $5 to the Fort Bend County Women’s Center in exchange for a taster’s ticket that will allow them to sample all chili and vote for their favorite.  At the end of the event, the team with the most taster’s tickets will be given the People’s Choice Award and will receive a $500 donation to their charity of choice in Fort Bend County.  In addition, judges will choose first, second and third place winners who will receive $1,000, $750 and $500 donations, respectively, to their charity of choice.

The competition is also a creative way for businesses to promote themselves in Sugar Land Town Square.  Participants will be able to hang company banners & distribute promotional materials like flyers, coupons and business cards during the cook-off.
