SUGAR LAND, TEXAS (Oct. 16, 2006) – 100.3 KILT and the City of Sugar Land are teaming up to bring the sweet sounds of Mercury Records’ Sugarland back to their namesake town for an exclusive, live broadcast from the steps of City Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. Hosted by Afternoon Radio Personality and Sugar Land Resident Rowdy Yates, Studio KILT will feature interview segments and live, acoustic performances by lead singers Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush.

“100.3 KILT has championed Sugarland’s music from the beginning, and we’re proud to host them on Studio KILT in the great city of Sugar Land,” said Jeff Garrison, 100.3 KILT program director.

Originally from Atlanta, this Grammy-nominated group was inspired by the sweet name of this Texas city and has since burst onto the contemporary country music scene winning two 2006 Country Music Awards.

Sugarland last performed in Sugar Land in early 2005. Their reception was so overwhelming by area residents that Mayor David Wallace sent a personal invitation for the band to return again this year.

“The City of Sugar Land is excited to welcome Sugarland back to Town Square,” said Wallace. “It’s been a successful year for both the City and the band, and we both are recognized as one of America’s Best. I look forward to celebrating together.”

Participating SLTS retailers will have T-shirts for sale to promote the band, with all proceeds benefiting a local Fort Bend charity. T-shirts will cost $8 and will be available for purchase during the week prior to the concert.

The event is free and open to the public. Spectators are encouraged to bring their blankets and lawn chairs to spread out across the 1.4-acre plaza and enjoy the concert.

Sugarland’s new album is set for release on November 7. For more information on the band Sugarland, visit wwwsugarlandmusic.com. To learn more about events taking place in Sugar Land Town Square visit www.sugarlandtownsquare.com.
